Let It Be was my first taste of the Replacements, and is my favorite. Bought it back in ’84-’85, mostly on the reputation that they had built, as I hadn’t heard a single song from the album. I was hooked the moment “I Will Dare” started playing from the speakers. Very unusual that a song has an immediate impact on me, but IWD is that type of song.
The Mats had recorded the Grass Roots’ “Temptation Eyes” during the LIB sessions, but decided not to include it, as they already had a cover song(Black Diamond) on the album.
