pzp, need a copy of that show? Wish I had known you then, I was at the stage a few feet from that tambourine player. I was seated in the front row, recall folding chairs? and was 5 feet back like everyone else but said screw it and took my beer to the stage near the monitor on the right. The woman with the note was to my right.

Very fun night.....

Joey -

I was there and I remember the exact moment (this was the very first time I ever saw Paul).

As I was reading Wolf write above "Can’t Hardly Wait was missing from the setlists on that tour. (did I miss one?)" I was thinking to myself that I vaguely remembered Paul being coaxed into CHW, flubbing the opening note, but being fairly pushed through the song by the crowd.

check the last song of the 2002 in Cincinnati. The women next to me had written on a large sheet of paper a request from her daughter to play Footsteps as it was her favorite song. PW declined politely and the lady politely accepted it. She took the sheet back, and during the encore slipped it back up to the stage but had crossed out Footsteps and written in Can't Hardly Wait. PW sort of grimmaced and said he really don't know it too well but would give it a shot. Crowd of course loved it and helped him along as well as they could. It was a lousy version but the crowd loved it and the mutual admiration between performer and crowd was a terrific ending to the show.

And I do love how the crowd starts in the can't hardly wait whenever PW takes an extended break during that 4 beat pause. Such fun.
