Aside from their newest album (and even that has a few gems – but not many), I love U2, and I think it’s a shame so many think Bono is full of himself – he only brings attention to causes because he really cares, which is more than I can say for many other filthy rich celebrities. He’d rather the world had no problems and he could just do the music, but since there are things to be fixed, and he knows his celebrity can help, that’s why he does it. I applaud him for that. Also, he has fun being a rock star (I don’t use that word often, but let’s face it, he is).

Of course, I am by no means demonizing those who hate U2 and/or Bono…I’m just explaining why I think Bono is the man and U2 rocks.

Heck, Paul said bands should never speak out on politics etc, but while I disagree with him on that, I love his music regardless!

The first thing I thought of other than Tim and PTMM was Sign O the Times by Prince. I was stunned to see it at number two. Didn’t think it ever quite got the love it deserved but I stand corrected.

I’ve never been a big fan of the ‘best’ of lists that are published. I think they are only created to create debate, which they always do. I find it impossible to pick a top ten, twenty… of my favorite groups let alone albums or songs. How can anyone say that one song or album is the best ever and why would you want to limit yourself? There is too much great music to narrow it down that much.

Kind of amazing that Tim would move up on a list that’s still on the U2 bandwagon.

Kind of interesting to compare this list with the one they made just 5 years ago. In that time, Tim has jumped 21 spots, from 32nd place to 11th. Not too shabby, although not quite as good as the Strokes, who shot from 100th to 18th.

Side note: How can anyone hate U2? I’m not saying you have to love them, but hate is a strong word.
