I don’t usually do this. It’s not my thing to promote every band who emails me, but Kevin from 40 Stiches Later sent me an email that made me laugh right out loud. Like with my mouth and noise erupting from it, and not in the LOL! way people type).

Replacements Tribute Show (Proceeds from the event will benefit Ozone House of Ypsilanti)
Saturday, April 13th, 9:00PM
Woodruff’s – Ypsilanti, Michigan

Right now we are still looking for a couple more bands to fill out the line-up. Each band will be playing six Replacements songs. If you could put something up to help us spread the word that we need bands, that would be very helpful. We think there is a good chance that bands that are fans of Paul and the ‘Mats will find out about it through sites such as
yours.

Thanks for your help!

If you want more information, email Kevin.

Dan Murphy announces he’s leaving Soul Asylum on the band’s website. Starting:
“After 31 years of relentless and fulfilling cycles of touring, recording, writing and living in Soul Asylum a band founded by Karl H. Mueller, David Pirner and myself in the late summer of 1982, I have decided that I will no longer be touring or recording with the band, effective immediately. Leaving with great admiration and respect for David Pirner, whom I felt like I grew up with and who provided me and all of you with so many memorable musical moments. I have great love for Michael Bland who has a big heart, a big sound and an even bigger laugh that I will remember and cherish for the rest of my days. My deepest respect and love for Karl H. Mueller, and his widow and loving wife Mary Beth Mueller, and his mother Mary Mueller who provided us with a start in their family garage and supplied us with endless encouragement, engaged us and instilled in us all the prospect of “possible”.”

He goes on to thank a bunch more people including Tommy Stinson. You can also read more of Dan has to say over at the STrib.

What’s the weirdest thing you two(TS an PW) ever did together?

“One night we were in L.A., staying at the Hyatt on Sunset Boulevard. As a dare, we told this cab driver we’d give him a hundred bucks to drive us backwards all the way to Small’s, which was a bar on Gower and Melrose. He actually did it! He went down Sunset, crossed down Fountain, the entire way in reverse.
I don’t know how we didn’t get pulled over by the cops, but it was funny
as shit”.

Darren Hill will be opening his shop “Pop” on April 1st.

About Pop

“I’ve been a collector of pop culture for all of my life. My travels in the music business for the last 30 plus years have allowed me the opportunity to scour antique stores, flea markets, and junk shops all over the world looking for interesting items. POP is the natural evolution of my obsession. A true labor of love.

In a quaint space built as a grocery market in 1923, you’ll find popular culture artifacts of all kinds. Modern, Folk, & Found art. Mid Century Modern furnishings. Oddities, Curiosities, Ephemera, Relics, and just plain Neat Stuff. From the Historical to the Absurd. I like to call them Conversation Pieces. Unique items with personality and a story.

We’re located just off of Main St. in the heart of the historic Hill & Harbor District of East Greenwich, RI – along with other interesting shops and fantastic restaurants.

Come visit us for a unique experience. Bring your curiosity and leave with a smile!
-Darren”
