The party is over for the Replacements’ “Let It Be” on original Twin/Tone vinyl. Thirty-one years after the legendary album hit stores, the last sealed copy of it from Twin/Tone Records’ original stock pressing was sold earlier this week, according to Twin Cities record retail guru John Kass. Thus, for at least the next few months, the record is more or less sold out on vinyl.

Really, the expect us to click that button 100 times. What the hell?

But I am already question the veracity of this list, and I’m only on 96. Because they rank The fucking Doors and Kid Rock above Let it Be. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

Some click that next button for an hour and then come back and tell us what is #1. I’m too ADD to get past 85.

Well it ain’t lost yet so it’s gotta be a winner.

Let It Be, dominant throughout the whole tournament, prevailed 38-25 over Tim in the championship match. What put Let It Be over the top? Was it the reissue, Jodi’s campaigning, or Lay It Down Clown? Check out how the final bracket shaped out as you try and imagine a Mats’ cover of “One Shining Moment:”

So what did we learn from all this? Folks like All Shook Down more than I thought. Like the Chicago Cubs, Sorry Ma may not be the strongest entry, but it’s got the most die hard fans. Anything else?

Random Aside: When I was a kid (think like 11-years-old) I used to listen to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” every night while gazing fondly at the liner notes. I convinced myself that Michael and Paul McCartney were singing “The Girl is Mine” about me. Because, you know, why not? I spent a lot of time worrying about how I was going to tell Paul that I loved Michael more.

Did you know that Chris Mars had some of animations of his work on his web site? I didn’t either.

I cannot resist anything that mentions both Billy Joel and Paul Westerberg. Now you know my dirty secret.

On the KEXP blog one reader chronicles his quest to read all the 33 1/3 books and talks about the Let it Bes (beatles and ‘mats).

This has nothing to do with anything, but I am reading a really funny book called Rock On: An Office Power Ballad by Dan Kennedy which is about this poor marketing wonk who gets a job at Atlantic Records right as the record industry begins to disintegrate. What does this have to do with paul westerberg.net? Well it starts out with a nice little quote from Bastards of Young. That is all.

Oldmankase offers up some knowledge from Paul Westerberg.

Douglas Coupland, Paul Westerberg, and Obama . . what do they have in common? Find out here.
