so, like, i really enjoy “the big lebowski”, right? who doesn’t? these things are awesome! they are apparently being unveiled at the upcoming lebowski fest in ye olde london towne.

what’s all this, then? why the lebowski (s)talk? i’m just wondering if we (or some other sufficiently nerdy contingent) could/would put together a “westfest” or “matsfest”. hear me out.

i am loathe to admit that i like rush. most of you know that already. i have never gone, mind you, but rush has a yearly thing called “rushcon” or some damn thing. additionally, rush has these:

(i am looking at my own versions of these right now – deduct cool points accordingly)

i look at it thusly: if rush can have a yearly “convention” and bobble heads, why not the replacements? if a movie (albeit, a good movie) can have a successful yearly get together & action figures, why not the replacements?

i call bullshit on the notion that it wouldn’t work for a band like the replacements. i just don’t want anything to do with the planning. oh, and please make sure the first “con” happens in mpls so i don’t have to travel.

get to it.

p.s. i just had delicious jimmy john’s for lunch, and goddamn they are freaky fast.

p.s.s. voila! content!

All I have to say is that if I get stuck planing some sort of Westernerd convention, I will personally kick your ass.

Just attended (a month ago) a similar thing for guided by voices. 80 or so geeks from around the country converging in Dayton. However, Pollard showed up for the Friday night happy hour, and actually played a few songs at the Saturday picnic.

I say that only to say the westerfest would need to include a PW sighting to make it happen. That would require it to be in MPLS, but what are the chances of getting PW to show? I’d guess an inquiry to management would be ignored but what the hell?

I think Areg just volunteered to head the planning committee.

    Think again mighty queen.

If this took wings it would be best from a MPLS-St P person that could make arrangements for facilities and activities.

The thing in Dayton was very well organized and included a method for ppl to RSVP and contribute to the cost via paypal. Space and other purchases had to be arranged in advance and that would be much easier for the locals. Besides, they are the one group that would not be out the expense of flights/gasoline/hotels.

If I come I’ll be carpooling with LL’s hot younger sister!

Will you head the planning committee if I offer up my couch?
