Give it a shot — High on Stress

By 25.Aug.084 Comments

Way back in June, I got a very nice e-mail from a dude named Nick in a band called High on Stress. This is not unusual, I get a lot of e-mails from bands. However, Nick’s caught my attention because he was all “Hello fellow Paul Westerberg fan.” And I was all, “I think I love you.” Because I am easy.

Nick sent me one of his band’s songs. It’s pretty good. They get compared a lot to Wilco and the Replacements. If you download Cop Light Parade (if I did this right, you should be able to download this), you’ll see why the comparison is fitting.

Anyway, I’ve been meaning to post it. But then 49:00 came out. Then 49:00 disappeared. Then 5:05 came out. Then I drank a lot of wine and got a headache (okay, that just happened yesterday and is no excuse).

So today I was trolling the Internet and I saw that Mediation had posted a link to an interview with High On Stress about their new album “Cop Light Parade.” And then I was all “motherfuck!”

But now I am making up for lost time.

ALSO, and most importantly (and why this is double-plus bonus point) High on Stress is having a CD Release show on Friday, September 5th at the Fine Line (that’s here in Minneapolis you poor people who don’t get to live in Minnesota). Slim Dunlap is set to play the release show.

See how this all works?
