That’s weird – I just listened to it this morning on the way in to work (I’ve alternated between Let it Be and the Hold Steady’s Stay Positive for far too long!) I tend to skip that also, but let it go today. Last year when the JWs (Jehovah Witnesses) came to town for their big convention, I cranked it while passing the throngs! I figured most of them had never heard it, so I “enlightened” them! Is that so wrong?
I too have been going between Stay Positive and Let It Be recently. Uncanny.
Gary’s Got a Boner. I skip it too. Sometimes I feel bad for skipping it so I give it a pity listen.
Anybody heard rumblings from Paul’s basement? I’m getting ancy, his writing now is leaps and bounds above his stuff with the ‘Mats, which was already ahead of the game. Though I’m expecting his next obscure onetrackalbumwithmanysongs to come out on Laserdisc or a series of multicolored cassette tapes that disintegrate after an initial listen.
I didn’t even download that song onto my iPod. Although I wish I had now that I lost the CD. I don’t mind the song myself. It’s just that I never wanted to accidentally play it in the presence of someone who didn’t know about the Mats, which, where I live, is everybody.
I think it’s hands down the best song the mats ever laid down. Blows the doors off every other track on the album- especially that answering machine drivel.
Sidebar: Who’s going to be the cool kid tomorrow morning who posts a story about the Mats reuniting or Paul coming out with an album of Elvis Presley covers? Come on, someone has to do it.
That song is good sometimes. I’m good how have you been? It’s been awhile. We are aimless without our fearless leader.

Great to hear from you, Jodi!
We need a poll!

That would just be awkward.
I tend to skip it, too. I have the alternate or demo of “Gary” somewhere. I remember it was nice to hear a bit differently.

I would have fallen for it.
