Art Brut’s Ode to the Replacements

By 02.Jun.093 Comments

Was listening to the Current  the other day when this song came on about the Replacements! (Thanks, Swill Merchant.) Never heard of Art Brut before, but any band that discovers and likes the Mats (it’s never too late!) is okay by me. With lines like “This time I really want to believe / Another record with my heart on the sleeve” and “Some of them are almost as old as my parents” it’s pretty amusing…

Plus the Current followed with They Might Be Giants’ “We’re the Replacements” as well as “I Will Dare” for the capper! Nice!

  • Tom Paretta says:

Great song by Art Brut, hitting the next generations, that’s what it’s all about.

  • Satan says:

Excellent! Let’s all bow down to this Mr. Paretta for his eloquence and understatement. BTW, we have reports that this Mr. Paretta was not actually born in Hawaii and may actually hold a secret passion with Limited Warranty the much celebrated group (Starsearch, hello?!?) who were excellent at syncopated hair dancing. But I digress…

  • Colin Macklin says:

Yep. Great tune. I wish more bands would write songs about bands they like.
