It is a national spot. It was done my Martin Williams – local Minneapolis agency with national clients. I have seen it on TV also. I think it’s great and I hope PW got a bunch of money for doing it.
I’m always mixed on music being in commercials, especially with artists i truly respect but i agree with mcgehr, if anyway deserves a huge payday it would be Westerberg.
I saw this the other night on one of those national cable channels (maybe HGTV or something) and found myself liking hearing it, albeit softly under the voiceover, and knowing that Paul was getting a few well-deserved bucks.
There was a time when we’d all yell “sellout” but now I think we appreciate decent music getting exposure, even if it’s only in a commercial.
It also seemed mildly subversive in this context, although I’m not entirely sure why.
Surreal.
Maybe Converse will come out with a line of “Paul Westerbergs” to go with their Chuck Taylor shoes.
Um… Not sure what exactly to think of that. I want to go to Payless though.
i wonder if this is a national commercial….has anyone seen it besides on the internet?
Erik, I haven’t seen it out in the wild yet. But I wonder if that’s because Easter is still three weeks away?

Nothing but happy about this.
Give us a record Paul…..please
I still get all giddy inside when I hear a PW/Mats tune in the real world. Good for Paul.
