Slim died 12 years after being left bed-ridden by a stroke. I’m almost two years into surviving my own stroke, so I got some feels I’m not dealing with until after the holidays. Yay, compartmentalization.

In the meantime, if you’re not familiar with Slim’s solo work. Give this one a whirl.

Today it was announced the Dunlap family is having a moving sale to help pay for Slim’s “ongoing care and medical costs.”

UNSUITABLE FOR AIRPLAY: THE LOST KFAI CONCERT, a 2-LP, 140g vinyl set will feature some of the earliest professional recordings of The Replacements captured by Twin/Tone’s mobile unit on January 23, 1981, at the 7th St Entry in Minneapolis, MN. The concert took place as the band was in the midst of work on their debut SORRY MA, FORGOT TO TAKE THE TRASH OUT, and the show’s twenty-seven song setlist is packed with evolving versions of classic songs that would appear on their debut album. For $80 (plus shipping) you get the Matt Wallace mix of Don’t Tell a Soul, a bunch of the Bearsville stuff + outtakes, and Inconcerated on four CDs, 1 LP, and a cassette. Plus more words by Bob Mehr about the making of DTAS.

The only CD player I own is in my 1999 Chevy S-10 (it also, incidentally, has a cassette player too).
